Celebrity Endorsements
About Celebrity Endorsements
Koss was the first to introduce the idea of celebrity endorsements. He began this strategy in 1966 when he endorsed The Beatles to help sell his product. In order to maximize this strategy, Koss invented the Beatlephones, and had the band The Beatles endorse those specific headphones. The introduction of celebrity endorsements, changed the way Koss advertised throughout the rest of his career. It grabbed the attention of a wide variety of audiences and gave an extra source of credibility towards his products (Visually, 2012).
Next, Koss endorsed Tony Bennett. Koss was introduced to Bennett in the early 1960s and used his headphones then. Now, they have partnered again 50 years later in honor of his 85th birthday and his new album "Duets II". Koss Corporation and Bennett are now renewing their partnership. Today, celebrities still endorse headphones. Koss began a series of advertisements that changed marketing strategies forever. Companies around the world utilize celebrities in order to sell their products. From perfumes to face wash, celebrity endorsements have become a common form of advertisements. Similar to Koss, Dr. Dre created his own line of headphones, Beats by Dre. Following the path of Koss, he uses celebrities to endorse his headphones as well. A brief clip of this can be seen to the right. |
