Koss at SCU
Santa Clara University's Shapell Lounge
Our very own Santa Clara University utilized Koss' technology during the late 1970's and early 1980's. The Shapell Lounge, located in between Benson and the Library, used to utilize a jack, Koss's headphones and a cord. Users of Koss’ headphones, or SCU students, would plug the cord into the jack and sit in front of the jack throughout the entire time they wanted to listen to music. Across the walls of the room, there are 20 jacks that were once used by students to listen to music. Students would go to the front desk, request headphones and a radio station. They would then tell the receptionist which jack they were sitting at and proceed to sit in front of the jack, with their headphones plugged in, the entire time they chose to listen to music.
